Groton Community DinnersFostering community by offering a healthy, delicious meal for all, free of charge, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere |
Groton Community Dinners is a new initiative by a number of community groups in and around Groton, MA. Our goals are both to provide nourishment and to strengthen the bonds of community.
On Friday August 27, 2010, all are welcome to the free monthly dinner held at First Parish Church, located at the intersection of Rte. 40 and Rte. 119 in Groton, MA. Dinners are held on the last Friday of every month. (Here are a few photos from the inaugural dinner on May 29 of last year.) Doors open at 5:45 pm and dinner is served continuously from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Come for live music, great food, and good company. The menu for August 27th includes fresh tomato and basil salad with homemade dressing, marinated and grilled flank steak, grilled or sauteed vegetables with "wheat meat beff", corn on the cob with sweet butter, bread or rolls and butter, and peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream . The August 27th dinner is hosted by Squannocook River Runners and Katryn's Yoga. Local groups and organizations will be asked to host future dinners by cooking, setting up, cleaning up, or serving.
